Doyle Connolly Goes Wire-to-Wire

Standing on the first tee of Quivira Golf Links with a 14-shot lead, it seemed like a done deal. Then, leading off this final group, Doyle hit a topspin hook that dove into the weeds next to the caddyshack. Had it not hit the weeds, we might have found that ball at the Quivira Steakhouse... Unfazed by the poor swing, he proceeded to hit from the waste area up just short of the green. A spectacular bunker shot to 18 inches left a tap-in, and the romp was on.

Grinding around Quivira with a lot of fairways and greens, Doyle finished with a net 76, 225 total, 11 shots clear of the nearest other Haole. The highlight of the round came on the 496-yard 16th hole. Sitting in the rough, 131 yards from flag with no view of the green, Doyle launch an 9-iron that landed 8 feet right of the hole and started to trickle toward the hole. The ball gathered just enough speed to fall into the cup for an eagle 3.

It was an exclamation point on his dominating wire-to-wire victory and the coveted title, 2025 Champion Haole of the Year!

When asked about his plans to celebrate his title, he quickly replied..., "I am headed to the Riu Presidente to chase some hoochie mammas...!"
